Painless and subtle lip enhancement with non-volume lip enhancement procedure
(17/04/2009)
A quick, painless and subtle lip enhancement procedure that can be done in your lunch hour, which will give you perfect ‘bee-stung’ lips and let you throw away the lip gloss for the next year has been launched in the UK by its creator, French cosmetic surgeon Philippe Bellity. Dr. Bellity developed and honed his technique over the years in Paris, as he was appalled at the overtly obvious filler treatments he witnessed in magazines and television.
The ‘non-volume’ lip enhancement procedure involves injecting a hyaluronic acid solution into the lips using very small pin-prick injections around the lip line and only on the top layer of the lip rather than the muscle. It takes around half an hour to complete and the result is naturally shiny, subtly ‘plumped’ lips, which will last from six months to a year, depending on the patient.
According to Lara Chandler, 25, a yoga instructor from Kent: “The procedure was painless and the result is fantastic. I have always had quite thin lips and now I have a lovely dewy pout that exactly suit my face and dimensions. It looks so natural I can finally throw away the lip gloss”!
She adds “All my friends knew something was different, but couldn’t quite put their finger on it, as the look was nothing like the trout pouts you see in magazines. Now they know, they are so envious that I don’t have to apply lip gloss and are are scrambling to get it done themselves.”
The procedure has been hugely popular in France, where it has been perfected by Phillipe Bellity. According to Dr. Bellity, who qualified in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and studied at the Université de Paris “Lip enhancement has had bad press in the cosmetic surgery industry and French women want to look naturally enhanced. You never see a French woman with a trout pout, thanks to the technique I have perfected”.
The hyaluronic acid solution is injected into the ‘red’ top layer of the lips just under the skin and not into the muscle, as traditionally done in lip enhancement treatments. This gives what Bellity refers to as a subtle ‘re-plumping’ effect without actually adding volume. Because the solution hydrates the lips, it also leaves them shiny and glossy.
Should a patient feel their lips are slightly more plump than they envisioned, there is even an antidote so they can be reduced.
Phillipe Bellity said: “Patients are safe in the knowledge that the substance injected is one that naturally occurs in their body and if for any reason they wanted their lips reduced we could reverse it immediately. But we haven’t had to do that yet, as we always aim for a very subtle look”.
The treatment is being offered in the UK exclusively at the London Day Surgery Centre in North London. Pricing for the treatment cost from £500.
