Korres introduced its first certified organic line Materia Herba

Korres has enhanced its natural based portfolio with the introduction of its first certified organic line, Materia Herba, developed for those seeking the most sustainable skin solutions available.

A tribute to the Korres heritage – the brand was born out of Athens’ first ever homeopathic pharmacy – Materia Herba is based on Korres’ deep understanding and extensive knowledge of natural ingredients, as well as experience in over 3,000 herbal remedies. In tune with all Korres formulae, Materia Herba has been developed based on highly efficacious actives, oils, extracts, distillates and concentrates of natural origin, that are also certified organic. The new line is the outcome of a Korres collaboration with one of Switzerland’s most advanced skincare labs specialising in certified organic ingredients.

Materia Herba consists of nine products, all certified organic by Ecocert, the leading independent certification organisation worldwide, which ensures the use of organic materials and production processes that respect the environment and care for sustainable development. Each development/production stage - from ingredients and raw materials, processing, packaging, labelling, transportation and storage to energy and waste - is Ecocert approved.

The formulae composition of Materia Herba is 95-100% natural. The remaining 0.5% synthetic content adheres to Ecocert’s extremely restrictive standards list with no parabens or harsh chemicals included.

In terms of product efficacy, focus has been placed on advanced moisturising, anti-ageing and restructuring actions and maximum skin-compatibility.

The Korres portfolio currently includes over 500 products, all developed based on four groups of natural and organic ingredients: herbs with pharmaceutical properties, Greek flora herbs, food ingredients and high-efficacy, natural active ingredients. The brand’s ultimate goal is for all its natural ingredients to be of organic origin, a project that is already under way and set for completion by mid 2010.
