Brits are turning to quick fix solutions to beautify themselves
(16/03/2010)
Comet has revealed that sales of teeth whitening kits went up 200% for Valentine’s Day.
The electrical retailer has also seen a sharp rise in sales of home fitness products, such as exercise bikes, cross trainers and vibration plates, with an overall sales increase of 94% in this category. Sales of Slendertone kits alone have risen by 433%.
Bill Moir, Comet’s Head of Marketing says: ‘February is typically the time of year when New Year’s resolutions have flown out the window and customers are drawn to quick fix, cost effective solutions to help them achieve their goals from the comfort of their own home. At the start of the recession we saw an uplift in home cooking as bread maker sales rose by 57%, now home beautifying seems to be the next big thing.’
