Aaron Blondell, Assistant Art Director at John Carne Hairdressing and Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador gives his take on the biggest catwalk looks for Spring/Summer 2010, to keep you on top of this season of style.

SUPER SHINE
Shiny hair is the summer staple and this season, like everything else, shine is exaggerated with Giorgio Armani spray painting gold highlights onto tresses whilst Gucci opted for super tight ponytails, slicked back to the crown with a wet-look gloss. To achieve this sleek look, cult classic OSiS Magic (£10.45) will give that gorgeously glossy finish and calm flyaway hairs. Aaron Blondell says; “to keep hair looking glossy and healthy I suggest asking your stylist for sun-kissed highlights which are always popular at this time of year. Brunettes should ask for caramel or honey shades and light blondes should try beiges, or even strawberry pinks, blended and weaved in with other colours. This will give hair depth and movement whilst giving your colour gloss and lustre.”

SURFER CHIC
Beach hair was a key focus on the Spring/Summer catwalks, models at Alexander Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg and Prada wore side-swept waves for a relaxed surfer style. To recreate this laid back look Aaron Blondell advises; “firstly cleanse and condition your hair, whilst damp prepare the roots to mid-lengths with a mousse such as OSiS Grip (£7.95) to give long lasting hold. On the ends use a sea salt spray or plenty of Essensity Styling Juice (£9.45) and roughly dry hair with fingers, allowing the hair to do what it wants. If you have dead straight hair I would suggest using a diffuser. Once dry, gently spray OSiS Glamour Queen H2O-free Volumising Hairspray (£10.45) through the lengths to give that sexy, bed head finish”.

RAPUNXEL BRAIDS
“At New York Fashion Week designer’s showcased up-styles which were much more relaxed and homemade. Distressed bohemian braids worn loosely over one shoulder are key. First shampoo and condition hair with products best suited to your hair type. Using Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Buff (£10.45), a lightweight styling cream, roughly dry hair with fingers and then sprinkle OSiS Dust it (£10.45) mattifying powder through the lengths. Brush hair forward from the crown and start braiding, don’t concentrate on the roots but plait the mid length through to ends. Once complete, secure and throw hair over one shoulder allowing it to sit naturally, if the plait is too tight, separate with finger and thumb and loosen any desired sections”.

HOT BUNS
It’s all about height this summer as we saw exaggerated and roughed up takes on the ballerina bun and sky-high twisted sculptures at Danielle Scutt. For towering height Aaron says; “Brush hair forward and decide where you want the bun to sit on the crown or middle of head, and secure into a ponytail. With a wide tooth comb gently backcomb lengths of the ponytail and with grips or hair accessories twist and pin lengths into a bun. Secure with OSiS Session Fix (£7.75) for ultimate hold and control.”
