Crab's secret helps treat and improve damaged nails

The Columbus crab uses a substance called Chitosan to build and repair its shell. A commercial, synthesised form of Chitosan is used in Nail-It! – a DIY solution to help treat and improve damaged nails. A thin film of the lacquer helps strengthen and stabilise nail structure and protect against damage caused by physical, chemical or microbiological agents. “We owe our inspiration for Nail-It! to the Columbus crab,” says Phil Carroll, MD for Derma-UK, which produces the product in Britain. ...
